The Andalusian Human Genome Sequencing Center (CASEGH) is a project fostered by the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Health comprising state-of-the-art technology with a high performance Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) platform equipped with 11 sequencers (Roche 454 and SOLiD 4) and a bioinformatic platform with a dedicated high-end computing cluster and a data storage infrastructure for sequence data analysis and annotation. The Medical Genome Project (MGP) is one of the first singular projects to be carried out at CASEGH. MGP’s goal is to directly characterize mutations and structural variations causative of disease for a large number of genetically-based disorders, by exome and complete genome sequencing.
Functions:
• Management and organization of Scientific and Project activities under the supervision of the board of Directors.
• Coordination of the activities of the sequence production laboratory, bioinformatics analysis team and data validation group insuring the successful discovery and annotation of new variations relating to disease.
• Promotion and supporting high quality research in genomic medicine for the Andalusian Public Health System.
• Promote the use of the facilities and increase its national and International visibility by alliances, collaborations or external services.
• Serving as the primary liaison between the Andalusian Human Genome Sequencing Center and the Fundación Progreso y Salud on administrative and policy issues.
Required:
Essential requirements:
• PhD in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics or Health Sciences.
• No less than 6 years of research experience in world-recognised research centres in areas related to Molecular
• Biology, Genetics, Genomics or Bioinformatics.
• Original publications in internationally recognised high impact journals.
• Previous participation in scientific projects.
• Working experience in a Genome Sequencing Center.
• Experience on Next Generation Sequencing Technologies.
• Experience on Next Generation Sequencing data analysis.
• Experience in developing Bioinformatics resources for high-throughput sequence data analysis and annotation.
• Experience on polymorphisms mapping on genes related to disease.
• Experience on mutation screening and gene prioritization.
• Fluent English and excellent oral and written communication skills.
