http://www.cnag.cat/works/

The CNAGs primary mission is to carry out large-scale DNA sequence analysis projects in human and other species in collaboration with researchers in Catalonia, Spain and internationally. One of the primary goals will be to generate and interpret the genome data that will help understand the way a human or other genome functions so that this information can then be used for the improvement of human health or the sustainable and durable generation of nourishment.

We seek a Staff Scientist to lead the development of novel protocols for sequencing and new sequencing methods on the EU-funded project ESGI (European Sequencing and Genotyping Infrastructure). A particular focus will be on single cell analysis and the analysis of DNA and RNA extracted from challenged samples such as FFPE sections. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Sequencing.

Responsibilities:
- Development and implementation of new sample preparation procedures for DNA and RNA sequencing
- Implementation of new sequencing methods
- Preparation of SOPs
- Transfer of procedures to other teams

Requirements:
- Recent PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology...
- Able to work very reliably and autonomously, pay attention to detail with effective troubleshooting skills
- Excellent laboratory practices (DNA/RNA handling, standard molecular biology methods)
- Computer literacy is essential
- Able to understand and speak English

Desirable:
- Experience with the current generation of DNA sequencing technology
- Team working skills
